You have no embarked on adventure through the past, towards the present and into the future. All you have to do is believe.
A fresh breeze wafts past the springy tufts of grass stretching as far as the eye can see and tickles the tips of your whiskers as you sneak through the undergrowth towards the mouse only two foxlengths away. A smile crosses your lips, this time you will catch that pesky creature and prove yourself a valuable hunter in your home.
Although you will not capture it today, a scent wafts towards the tiny creature on the wind, the scent of a stranger; someone you don't recognize. The mouse flees the smell and you feel a growl rising in your throat, echoeing towards the bald tail vanishing through a smattering of ferns. What could have ruined the perfect opprotunity?
Welcome....the ghostly tune flutters through your ears, as sweet as bird song. I am Spottedleaf, welcome to the forest.
"Wh-what? Where are you?" you ask.
A she-cat slowley fades from the foliage, a tortishell with gentle eyes and fluffy fur that smells of strange flowers and a mid-winter breeze. The starlight sparkles on her pelt, and you can't help but wonder who this cat is and why she is here.
You are dreaming dear one. Spottedleaf purrs, stepping towards you, glowing like a spirit of the past. I have come to invite you to join the clans of the forest. We need help, and we need cats like you to join our ranks and ensure that the forest is once again filled with many cats to carry on the Warrior Code.
"There are clans in the forest? Of Cats?" you ask, the shock of such knowledge paralyzes you, sending a chill through your paws.
And two tribes....another scent floods your nose, filled with the scents of some thrashing river and the peaty smell of a moore. I am Teller of Pointed Stones but many have called me Stoneteller.
The speaker is a tom, with broad shoulders and thick fur that shines with starlight.
"But why me?" you whisper, feeling your whiskers trembling in anticipation. Something about these cats fill you with excitement and joy, like when your housefolk let you out into your garden to hunt.
You have warrior blood in your viens and their spirit inside your heart. Spottedleaf replies.
You can either choose to come with us, or to stay with your people. Stoneteller adds, his eyes glinting with hope.
"But what about my housefolk?" you whimper; you might have wanted to be free at times but your housefolk are good to you and they treat you like royalty.
You must choose. Stoneteller shrugs his powerful shoulders, You cannot have a paw in both worlds.
Like we said, it is your choice, we will not force you. Spottedleaf's eyes are full of wisdom and kindness, which calms the fur along your spine. If you decide to join us, then follow the path through the trees towards where the four oaks meet. StarClan and the Tribe of Endless Hunting will tell you about clan life.
Wake up young one, I believe your humans are calling for you. There is a flash of light and your companions have vanished.
Your Housefolk are calling your name, filling your food dish with dry pellets and some milk. You sigh, this was the usual. You settle into your normal routine but all the while your strange dream pricks at your mind forcing your thoughts to it. You must decide whether to stay or not? It doesn't make sense. But it will not leave your thoughts, you decide to go to this four oaks place and meet with the ghostly cats, maybe it will ease your mind.
The door slides open with a soft thump, and you twirl past towards the outside. A playful gust of wind tickles your fur and a lightning bug flies past your left ear but you are not outside to play tonight. You have come for answers.
The fence creaks above you when you burrow underneath, twisting your body to sneak through the narrow gap. It is just like your dream, grass everywhere you look, and clumps of plants surrounding your fence. It is paradise to your eyes, the fufillment of your wildest daydreams. You smile, feeling the damp ground beneath your paws and the sweet summer smells in the air, pushing you on towards the Four Oaks. You feel like a kit again, springing over a fallen log and boudning past more trees than you have ever seen in your short life. It does not take you long to reach the place where the moon hangs low in the sky and the sound of many cats beckon to your ears.
I am glad to see you have joined us. I am Bluestar, former leader of Thunderclan. A sleek blue she-cat greets you with a soft purr as she flicks your tail for you to sit beside her. As a Leader we make sure that the rules are followed and keep our clan safe. Perhaps you might become a leader someday.
"What are the rules?" you ask, curling your tail around your paws.
These are the rules you must follow here.
And these are the rules for the clans themselves. These are not the warrior code but yet they are similiar to them.
"Will I learn the Warrior Code?"
Yes, your clan or tribe will tell you of it. Now, I believe Spottedleaf is here to speak with you. Bluestar gives you a cheery nodd and padds away, her pelt fading into the night sky.
